Evaluation of the system performance: With the help of the Design Expert software, the results of the analysis were used to evaluate the performance of the system. The reliability and accessibility were analyzed using the Design of Experiment (DoE) software (DOE7.1). The design and response surfaces are shown in Figures 1 and 2.
The minimum and maximum values of the percentage values of the 6 selected parameters for the experimental runs are shown in Table 4. The experiment percentage values were analyzed with the help of the Design Expert software. The results of the analysis are shown in Table 5. The results of the analysis were used to study the contributory effect of the parameters on the percent risk of the system.
Learning about the system: As a result of the analysis, the following aspects were learned: (i) The factors identified during the evaluation process are critical to the performance of the system. (ii) The performance of the system is mainly influenced by the factors identified during the analysis. (iii) The performance of the system can be further improved by means of software innovation. (iv) For the factors identified during the analysis, only a few levels need to be tested for the response surface analysis. (v) For the factors identified during the analysis, software innovation will be able to improve the performance of the system.
The experimental data were further analyzed using two statistical methods. The first method is the analysis of variance (ANOVA) for the independent effects of the parameters on the system. The second statistical method is the application of the P-B design equation to analyze the interaction between the parameters on the system. The results are shown in Tables 4 and 5.
The results were analyzed by regression analysis. The experimental results were also statistically significant at a 95% confidence level. It can be concluded that the first four terms (A, B, C, and D) of the Plackett-Burman Design were the most influential for the response, whereas the influence of other terms (E and F) was very less. This shows that the Plackett-Burman Design is a statistical method for exploring the interaction between the factors and their effects on the response. The effects of the factors were measured by the coefficient of regression analysis. The results of this analysis are shown in Table 4.
Hi Charles,I tried to perform the factorial design by using the Excel toolpak. I'm stuck in the process of conducting the 2k analysis. Could you please clarify the procedure to perform the factorial design of experiments. Also, I'm using the Excel toolpak for performing the factorial design. Can you suggest any model for the factorial design of experiment in Excel Toolpak, so that i can start with the design of experiments. Please suggest. Thank you for the information.
