Like the Nikon D3S and Nikon D3, the Nikon D700 has an ISO sensitivity range of64 (ISO64) to 1,600 (ISO3200). But the Nikon D700's ISO3200 limit persists for only a short durationof exposure -- approximately twelve frames -- which prevents the camera fromshooting continuously at a non-chosen (ISO-sensitive) frame rate. This limitis one of the D700's shortcomings and should not be seen as asuccess.
While the Nikon D7000 is a mid-range camera, it requires a high-performance CPU to handle its various features. The D7000 uses a dual-core x86 CPU, which is more than capable of processing the camera's features. Like the Nikon D3, Nikon's D7000 uses a 152MB SDRAMDIMM, which means that the camera's main memory stores the parameters to thecamera's processing engine, and data images captured by the D3 are loaded tothe camera's main memory.
The Nikon D7000's advanced Live View screen uses a zero-centered lens, focusing confirmation, and magnification (3x) that is calibrated for thesensitivity of the camera's maximum aperture. The lens is rock solid whenfocused via Live View, but the Live View screen is capable of several usefulfunctions. For example, the screen can auto-focus in Live View just like italways had and has been designed for that purpose.
When an electronic flash unit is used to light a subject in a fully darkenvironment, the serendipitous light can create highlights that give a photographer a feeling that the image was taken in withthe sunlight reflected by the object. This is called "white spotlighting,"and it is one of the photographer's secrets for adding contrast to a poormeet. To correct for white light beaming at the subject, the Nikon D7000 features a White Spot AF feature. The camera automatically lights the target subject using AF while it measures an object in the field of view. AF iscontinued while the shutter is depressed, even if the subject is moved from theinitial measurement position.
